Welcome to An Ever Growing Pile Of Songs. Songs-so-many/pile-so-big... must download, then comment... *is hopeful* The original song pile became TOO BIG for Live Journal to process without error, so I guess I’ll have to split it up into sections...

Welcome to An Ever Growing Pile Of Songs! I occasionally post to pretty_music and audiography but these songs may not necessarily fit with their respective formats. So I'll put them here, and see what happens. Go ahead, try something new! Please comment because I enjoy this shared love of music, and I'd really like to read your comments. Anyway, I have a dialup connection, so just a few single songs. Buy albums to support the artists/delete songs after 4.5 listenings/be kind to small animals/don't drink cheap domestic beer/yada, yada, yada... The pile became TOO BIG for Live Journal to process without error, so I guess I'll have to split it up into sections...

My upstairs neighbor is tossing stuff off of his patio/balcony. o_0
Is he: Moving out? Making a dumpster run? Mad at his possessions? Going insane?
I hope he's not angry like this character:

Pat Travers-Crash and Burn
Crash And Burn Pat Travers
Well some see this life as nothing more than pain
It's pay out this and line up here, it's all just too insane
And I feel the blues are coming down like rain
My feelings are so complicated I wish I could explain
Turn into words, the way I feel
I know I really need someone, and I need something that's real
But we can't stop this world from its... Crash and Burn

Loneliness becomes a way of life
And you turn off your tv set to shut out all the strife
But there are things that help to ease the pain
You make that call he guarantees to paralyze your brain
Turn into dreams, the way you feel
You know it's really all you need to pretend that it's real
But we can't stop this world from its Crash and burn

I don't even own a bicycle, but I'm glued to the Versus network daily coverage of this thing. They do such a great job of explaining all the team strategies and functions, like how riders rotate places so each guy can get a break in the 'slipstream'. When they eat, (little bags of goodies are handed to them a couple of times along the route) the (flunky) riders that drop back to support vehicles for water, loading up for the other members of the team.
If a rider has a flat tire or mangles his bike, they just pull up in a car and make repairs or give him a new bike. Quick! And oh yes, the crashes.

Remember 'grunge' music? When the bands dressed for performance in their regular clothes, like they didn't care about their appearance on stage.
Right.
Guys with strategically messy hair all wearing flannel shirts and jeans. And the members of the audience dressing the same way. *no comment* How is this different from Devo? or The Beatles? or Polysics?
I don't want to see anybody looking messed up until it's time to smash the guitars:
Smashing!.jpg

I'll bet Bice never smashes her guitar: Bice-An Apple A Day
Esperanza Spaulding would never smash her upright bass: Noise For Pretend-Go Figure, Another Warm Day In Paradise
I just saw a video of Jeff Beck abusing his guitar, but when you play as well as he does, you can do whatever the frak you want: Jeff Beck-Led Boots
I can't picture Steve Hackett smashing any of his guitars, especially this classical one: Genesis-Blood On The Rooftops
Keith Emerson doesn't play guitar, but I've seen him stick knives into his Hammond B3 (Organ) a few times: EL&P-Hoedown
I have seen Ritchie Blackmore smash a guitar: Deep Purple-Smoke On The Water (Live)

If you regularly listen to Chinese music, you're bound to have heard Faye Wong at some point. She's had a very long career, delved into many musical styles (heavily influenced by some western artists), and sings in Cantonese as well as Mandarin. I really like her!

Yes-Time and a Word
In the morning when you rise,
Do you open up your eyes, see what I see?
Do you see the same things ev'ry day?
Do you think of a way to start the day
Getting things in proportion?
Spread the news and help the world go 'round.
Have you heard of a time that will help us get it together again?
Have you heard of the word that will stop us going wrong?
Well, the time is near and the word you'll hear
When you get things in perspective.
Spread the news and help the word go round.

There's a time and the time is now and it's right for me,
It's right for me, and the time is now.
There's a word and the word is love and it's right for me,
It's right for me, and the word is love.

Here is a small sample from today's New York Times and
Houston Chronicle:
1. People getting killed/assaulted over the songs they sing at Karaoke bars in Malaysia (hogging the microphone) Philippines (too many renditions of Frank Sinatra-My Way) and Thailand (eight people shot dead after too many renditions of John Denver-Country Roads)
>>>I still think this is adorable: Yoko Honna-Country Roads (cover)
2. Some people in Houston were so happy about helping friends move in to their new apartment, they decided to play ’Russian Roulette’. Alcohol + Gun Crazy Houston. What could possibly go wrong? Hm, let's ask the dead guy? No, we'll have to ask his friend, the guy who actually shot him. (Obviously, these scholars were a little fuzzy on the rules of Russian Roulette. Imagine that.)
>>>Someone come quickly: Rilo Kiley-The Execution Of All Things
3. Some asshole in Houston broke into a petting zoo and cut the head off of a tame deer. ('Mr. Buck') He was arrested when he was found with his 'trophy' in his place of residence. (http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/6150753.html)
>>>How can you live on the Knife Edge: EL&P-Knife Edge
And I tried posting to [info]wedontsendit the other day, and I get a notice that my post is 'awaiting moderation'. (I think they're doing that because of spamming issues) Well, it never shows up in the community, so what can I say, except These pretzels are making me thirsty!!!

I like the Green Curry I takeout from the Thai restaurant in my neighborhood. But I thought curry was Indian cuisine. o_0
So now I wanted to know what was the difference* between Thai curry and Indian curry, and there were pages of search results, yay. So next time you think your question is too ‘specialized’ or peculiar to your interests, go ahead and try the big Google in the sky. =)
Some Thai pop:
Palmy-Stay
Palmy-Top Tuan
Bua Chompoo-Wong glom
Bua Chompoo-Tuen tuen tuen
Tong Pukkaramai-Yark ja bauk krai suk kon
Tong Pukkaramai-Glied
--------------------------------------------------------------------
*"In the Thai curry they use coconut milk and the Indian curry they use yoghurt."
“Thai curries tend to include coconut milk, kaffir lime leaves, lemon grass, and fish sauce. Green curries include Thai basil; yellow curries include turmeric; red curries include red chili peppers. Indian curries nearly always include powdered turmeric, as well as any subset of the common Indian spices (cardamom, cumin, black and yellow mustard seeds, fenugreek, asafoetida, ginger, garlic)”

Apparently the Japanese also do curry (Kare). It’s made with Pocky and Whale blubber. (yes, I'm kidding) XD
